The Sun and Mercury


The Sun is reckoned, by me, to be the alchemy of air into fire, literally the creation of fact in accordance with mind.


Mercury is reckoned to be the alchemy of water into air, literally the manifestation of mind in accordance with desire.


Together as a pair, the Sun and Mercury are both the asking of a question and the awareness of what is known, which by implication may also suggest an awareness that there is something more to know.


Mercury is never more than 28 degrees elongation from the Sun, so a 2 degree orb gives an approximate 1/14 chance [7%] of the conjunction [planetary pair] occurring. This is only approximate because Mercury has an eccentric orbit, and also would appear to slow when close to the furthest positions from the Sun, or when turning retrograde.


There is an inherent bias to be aware of; in all such lists, the origin of the data is generally from among the famous. This does not invalidate it, but is something to take notice of.
