Jamie Andrew is a Scottish mountaineer who, in 1999, was trapped for five nights on the north face of Les Droites in the French Alps with his climbing partner Jamie Fisher, in a storm with winds of up to 90mph and temperatures of -30C. Fisher died in the storm, and although Jamie survived, the severe frostbite he suffered led to the amputation of both hands and both feet. Remarkably, he was walking again within three and a half months, and went on to become the first quadruple amputee to climb the Matterhorn, in 2016.
