Jim Morrison was the singer and main lyric writer of The Doors, known for his baritone voice, poetic and often provocative lyrics, and chaotic, magnetic stage presence. He died in Paris in 1971 at the age of 27, one of a string of major rock stars, alongside Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and later Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse, to die at that same age, a coincidence that has since become known as the 27 Club.
